It feels so good to be a sloth on my bed at home, you’ve no idea.

Home cooked food where I don’t have to perform quality control on my food. Yes, I perform QC on the food I eat in UTM, which is why I tend to finish my food slower than the rest.

Completed my last paper for the semester on Monday. ME GUSTA!

To have a post-exam celebration was on the whim plan, as usual.

Headed to Tea Garden near Sutera Mall for a pleasant dinner.

We needed cardboard boxes to keep our things, so we went into Sutera Mall to look for them.

We came out happy like kids, looking like janitors carrying cardboard boxes FOL. LOL.

As if it’s not embarrassing enough, occasionally we’d stop by and peer into windows of certain shops to look at things. LOLLL.

Went to JPO the next day.

One word: DISAPPOINTING.

Cotton On there by far is the worst outlet I’ve ever been to and it was the shop that I was looking forward to go to (-.-)

I saw tops which I bought last CNY, still there, still the same price.

Coach was equally disappointing.

Lunch there was a little meh as well.

Then, finally home today

The amount of things Rachel and I lugged back all the way from Johor. LOL. Pretty scary for one semester if you ask me.

They keep telling me that I have a lot of things in my room but when it came to moving out of the room, I think I had the least things

I would have cried if they made me move all these to the store room in the THIRD FLOOR.

Helping Rachel with her stuffs is good enough to kill me already, what more these. LOL.

But thank god I didn’t have to

Lesson learned: Don’t be a hoarder especially when you’re staying in a hostel. Going to reduce my stuffs as much as I can in case we have to do this for the next 7 semesters. I’ll die before Semester 8 if I really have to do this T_T

Lessons in life

Studying for an exam blindly without proper guidance is an epitome of life. After you read through the textbook and lecture notes, you thought you have understood what is being explained. Then you do questions just to find out that you have actually understood nothing after the long read. In studies, we learn through questions. In life, you can't do that because time is never a friend of ours.

Best epitome to describe life as it is now.
Maybe we're just not meant to understand everything. :)

So many questions, so many uncertainties, so much curiosity.
Just one day.. One day, they'll all be answered.

As I grow up, it saddens me to realize the fact that not every 'why' question has a solid answer.

A pleasant Friday the 13th

1. Had a wonderful authentic Indian lunch at Shakti's house. I don't usually take muttons but the one her mom made was damn yummy. *drools
2. I found out that I have certain words to answer certain tough questions and just that one word is enough to explain everything. LOL
3. I did three chapters of Statics which is very unlikely to come out for finals today. Okay that didn't make my day any more pleasant. Lol
4. Had this Arabian cuisine for dinner and it was a good try. These middle Easterns dishes are really not bad, albeit a little pricey.
5. The rest of the night was well spent on having a heart to heart conversation . It's such an irony to see how people can get along so well despite the many distinct differences.
6. Mom's daily phone calls always make my day better :) Today, she got me very excited because she talked about CNY cookies!! Le sigh, live to eat :P
7. Two more days till my last paper before I get a month break from lecture notes and books.
8. Exactly one more week to fly. Sorry I'm not visiting the land of the rising sun. I'm visiting the land of uhhhmmmm.. Kim chi!! :D
9. Will have to move all my things out because the college is renting out our hostel during semester break. Thank god for super nice senior who willbe keeping my things so that I don't have to kill myself by lugging all my stuffs to the store room in the third floor :D

PS: I don't know why is everyone threatening to cut off my phone's bunny ears. Too many jealous people around :(

I’ve repeated this a gazillion times to my course mate but I still have to say this here. I can’t believe I just spent my entire first week of the new year IN THE LIBRARY. D:

Back then, I don’t even spend more than half a day in the library. Now, I visit the library at 8am and leave at 10pm.

Sometimes, I can just see the word NERD written all over my face LOL.

Oh wells, hard work pays off right? It better >(

3 papers done, 1 more to go.

Math paper was terribly excruciating yesterday.

It was way way way harder than the past year papers.

I wanted to fall on the floor, bawl and cry loudly after the paper yesterday but ahem, of course I didn’t.

Time flies, really.

Looking back, I survived my most excruciating first week here (My deepest memory of my university life I swear LOL), I got along well with my course mates whom I found some were quite *ahem ~~weird~~ unique at first. I survived the hurricane of assignments and most of them on a one man show. I finished 39038459 presentations that I don’t even find it a problem to come up with a slideshow in an hour and present on the whim.

Now, we’re at the end of the semester already and I smell semester break already. Hohoho.

Au Revoir 2011

As usual, one year has passed again in a blink of an eye.

2011 was somehow a very different and distinct year of my life compared to other previous years.

It was the year I made a huge leap in my life.

Spent the almost half the year worrying about my future.

It was tough. Entering 2011, I knew a 360-turn change was going to happen.

The big questions started popping in.

Where to further my studies but the million dollar question was, what do I want to do in my future?

I was fortunate enough to have supportive parents and sister who gave me the freedom to choose what I wanted to do instead of being tied down to what THEY wanted me to do.

Picked up two vacation jobs through out my nine months holiday.

First job was being an administrative assistant in Zuellig Pharma for three months.

Said “I QUIT” after having to arrange 473558985 of those file boxes.

Took up another job after being a sloth at home for about a month.

Challenged myself and took up something different.

Did accounts for three months of my life.

Met an amazing colleague and boss who kept feeding me with knowledge and skills to prepare me for the harsh reality outside there.

I learned one lesson: I’ll never do accounting to feed myself. LOL.

Received results for something that I’ve been working very hard for one and half years.

I wasn’t very happy with what I got despite being the top scorer in school.

I cried my eyeballs out when I tore the slip and saw my results.

But soon I realized that after all, it is just a piece of paper.

What matters is the change it did to me and little things that I’ve learned along that long stretch of journey reaching for the 4.00flat.

Spent my CNY in Taiwan which was breathtakingly beautiful.

I’d visit there over and over again for the shopping LOL.

Went on a shopping frenzy and shopped like a boss.

Came back with a whole huge luggage with clothes, shoes and bags.

Bought the family a luxurious dinner worth RM300++ with my pay.

Qualified to drive on the road without that ‘P’ sticker.

Collected this many trophies from one speech day for the first time in my life.

Did some volunteer work in PAWS and always coming back smelling like one of them.

Dyed my hair for the first time.

Went on a trip to Langkawi with awesome high school and Form 6 friends.

Some moments are just unforgettable. x)

Had my second piercing.

Then, we started bidding goodbye, one by one leaving following their own chosen paths.

Drank beer by the sea like a boss.

Visited Malacca three times in a year. I don’t even make trips back to my hometown that often! LOL

This must be the highlight of 2011.

Moved into my second home.

Decided on Chemical Engineering (Bioprocess) and chose to continue my studies in a public university which I never thought would happen.

Managed to survive independently till now.

First week there truly a very painful one though.

Met this bunch of amazing people who made my decision to stay in UTM less wrong.

The year he left us all to a better place and his sufferings were all lifted off.

No one ever spoke about you anymore at home but you still remain and WILL remain in our heart and memory forever.

I’d never trade memories I made in 2011 for anything else.

A year I grew up so much that I never thought was possible to be done in a year.

I’m looking forward to 2012 because I know there’s a lot of amazing experiences await me ahead.

The festive mood has got into me. Totally pwn the fear of final exams which is in less than two weeks time.

Suffering from a very severe lazing mode.

I’m a goner.

I have many new year resolutions this time. Resolutions that I know I must achieve. Otherwise, I’m just not going to acknowledge the arrival of 2013 and pretending to be in 2012 until I achieve my resolutions! *determined

Updates!

AIESEC MC Election and AMAN

I felt so cheated going for the event! LOL.

When we registered for the event, we were promised and told that transportation will be provided.

When we wanted to pull out, we couldn’t ‘cause then we have to pay a penalty of 50% of the fee.

Two days before the event, we were told that they couldn’t get the UTM buses and we’ll have to pay for bus rental. Fine.

A day before the event, we were told that all buses are full and they couldn’t rent any and we have to go on our own FOL.

Followed a senior back and he forgot to bring us back to UTM on Sunday double FOL. T___T

Despite the many issues, I didn’t regret going for the election and AMAN.

The one and only MCP candidate came from LC UTM and he got the position.

Four MCVP candidates came from LC UTM and two of them got it. *proud

AIESEC way of announcing the election result.

Celebrated birthday for these two amazing people. People who made my life in UTM so much easier. <3

UTM made into the Book of Record by painting a 40-metre egg trays.

Went around Malacca after that.

Despite having five meetings a week and 20++ mails a day (sounds scary shit right LOL), I never regretted joining AIESEC.

The best decision I’ve made in AIESEC so far must be running for the chief delegate position for MYLDS 2012.
Being the assistant chief delegate, one of the goals I made and tried to strive for was to bring 100 LC UTM-ers to MYLDS 2012 and guess what? We managed to get 98 delegates to join MYLDS! (Okay, didn’t manage to register 3 of them but oh wells) That’s not the best news yet, the best one was finding out that LC UTM has the highest number of delegates among the rest!

That sense of satisfaction was very overwhelming and made all the time I spent on that was definitely worth it.

You’ve got no idea how happy I was when I found out about that. I couldn’t help but kept yakking about that over and over again to my course mate for about 10 minutes before I could shut myself up. LOL.

Which proves another reason why I chose to be so committed in the team.

Yakult Industrial Visit

Visited Yakult factory in Seremban for one of our industrial trips yesterday!

It was very interesting for sure!

GA: It’s the only Yakult factory in the entire Malaysia, so that’s where all your Yakults are born. haha.

I was amazed by the size and amount of the reactors and tanks they have there. For each stage, they only have at most four tanks. I mean, they’re producing Yakults for the WHOLE Malaysia and that is all they have! I was expecting lines and lines of tanks arranged.

Okay, I was expecting too much.

The guys looked like strangers in pictures we took for a reason. LOL

Did you know that Yakult has many other products than just drinks?! They even have cosmetic products!

After the visit, we were brought to a seminar room and she briefed us about Yakult. Then, she played this REALLY long video and left us there while she went to fetch some Yakults for us.

You can tell that I was very bored. LOL

After the factory visit ended, Rachel, Jelly, and I started our little adventure!

Our first mission was to bring some Seremban siew paus home!

Hailed a cab and got the cab driver to bring us there.

Mission successful and we were happy like little kids!

Then, we took the cab to the nearest train station and took an hour commuter ride back to KL.

The end of our little ‘backpacking’ adventure. LOL.

I just thought of something funny.

When Rachel and I told Yi Hong that we’re going to Yakult for an industrial visit, he asked us “So what are you planning to get from there?”. He meant what we wanted to learn from the trip but we took his question literally and innocently answered, “Yakult lor!”

His speechless expression was priceless. HAHA.

I don’t know if it’s me or what but everything at home tastes so good!

Last night during dinner, mom kept stuffing me with food. She kept going, “You don’t get to eat this in Johor.. eat more! You don’t get to eat that in Johor, eat more!!”

Ran for Chief Delegate LC UTM and got the Assistant Chief Delegate position!

Turns out that the person who had the least faith and confidence in me was ME.

Glad that I actually took up the challenge and I definitely have to thank a few particular people. Without them, I wouldn’t have had the courage to run for the CD election and got it

My sincere thanks to Lim Boon Ken whose words inspired me most. My director, Allison who kept encouraging me to go for it and Rachel, my dearest coursemate who always have a lot of faith in me. Also, Yee Xiong who helped me out a lot and gave a lot of feedbacks for my delegate speech and manifesto.

More responsibilities, longer to-do list, more sleepless nights but I’m happy

Life’s been so busy that I honestly don’t remember the last time I got an 8-hour sleep like a normal human usually do.. which adds another reason to why I look forward to going home SO DAMN MUCH you have no idea.. Back home, my hibernating mode turns on automatically.

Here, everything moves in a fast motion. There isn’t exactly any “extra” time for you to pay your sleeping debts.

But I’m not complaining. In fact, I’m glad that I’m spending every waking minute productively.

(I haven’t been blogging consistently, I think I forgot how to do it already LOL)

Good news 1: I’ll be coming home again this weekend! ME GUSTA!

So much to update that I don’t even know where to begin from! LOL.

Went for LLDS UTM last weekend and it was AWEEEESOMEEEE!

It was in Tanjung Piai resort but the accommodation and food was a little meh.

Experience and lessons gained are priceless though.

Woke up early to catch the sunrise. It was too cloudy to see the rise, so we didn’t manage to see it.

I came back from the camp with a goal set in my mind.

I will be going to India for an exchange next year. Sounds very simple but if you heard the life story of the AIESECer who recently came back from India, you’ll change your mind.

It’s so true when they say time and tide waits for no man!

It’s been half a semester and I’m glad to say that life just keeps getting better

Today I Just Don’t Feel Like Doing Anything

Today is just the perfect day to sing Bruno Mars’ lazy song. Today I just don’t feel like doing anything. LOL.

If the weather here is not bizarre, then I don’t know what is.

One minute the sun shines and the heat can literally bake you alive. The next minute, it starts to pour and you rush to save your newly done laundry. The following minute you want to walk out for lunch, it stops raining and the sun shines again. (True story)

This morning, I went to the bathroom just to find that there isn’t water supply. Seriously? (-.-)

The last time our water supply got cut off, we had to walk all the way to another college with a basket of toiletries in our hands FOL.

Okay, I’m not complaining ‘cause the water supply is back now (You’ve got no idea how happy we were to hear the water flowing in the bathrooms!)

Did I also say the corridor stink to high heaven before our water supply came back?! So much for having your room near to the toilets (-.-)

I seriously think that UTM secretly cuts off our water supply once in while to teach us a lesson that we do not waste water and use as we wish. LOL.

Anyhow, I’m glad that this week ended pretty well.

Two things that are going to plaster a smile on my face for the next entire week.

One is the fact that I’ll be going home in four days time.

Can you believe it? I’ve survived half a semester already! *proud

HOME. Pork burger, Snowflake, Shabu Shabu, Chatime/Dong Cha/Gong Cha.. and my cutest Orange car ever. <3

Two. Hmm.. I’ll keep the reason to myself.

Been jogging three days in a row. Half an hour for the first day and ONE HOUR for the next two days without stopping! I think I’m ready for a full marathon already. LOL.

Crazy Hectic!

These past two weeks have been madness!

Rushed for a project. Slept at 5am and 3am for two consecutive nights. Pure madness!

After all the sleepless nights, we attended class just to find that it wasn’t what the lecturer wanted.

Spent another sleepless night redoing it.

When I was searching for information, I found online thesis's. The format turns out to be EXACTLY the same as the report I spent two sleepless nights doing!

Well, it is good to know that I’m capable of completing a thesis in two days when people spend at least one semester in their fourth year doing it. LOL.

This Semester 1 is scaring the shit out of me already. I seriously can’t imagine Semester 8. I see that my fourth year seniors are still sane though. Well, most of them. LOL.

Just another week to go till I come back to home sweet home again.

*fingers crossed that Friday classes will be cancelled!

UTM is pretty mean after all. We’re supposed to have five days mid-semester break but they con our two days! They included Saturday and Sunday as part of the five days. Since when weekends are semester breaks! Pfftt.. And as if five days is not short enough for a mid-semester break after going through eight excruciating weeks here.

Home Therapy

After a long week surviving alone in that foreign place, I had the best therapy ever.

Having long dates till late morning with dear bed with my comfortable familiar scent, smelling dinner cooking in the kitchen at 6pm knowing that I don’t have to worry about my meals, meeting the best friends and talk about everything for hours, having full speed internet connection and using at anytime I want to with just a push on the wi-fi switch, driving around with my cutest Orange car to run errands instead of walking miles and sweat gallons, having mom to listen me out and empathize and most important is to have someone wagging his tail showing his excitement when I come home.

I’ll be back to the foreign place again.. tomorrow. Why does time pass faster when you want it to stop at that particular moment?

Funny how it’s been almost two months and it still feels as foreign as the first time I stepped into UTM.

This time, it’s going to be more painful than the first time.

Because I know that the next time I come home, it will never feel the same again. The emptiness of the porch will always be there. There won’t be anything that will be able to fill the emptiness.

When the thought hits me, it never fails to trigger my tear ducts.

On a total unrelated note, I nearly lost my rational and chose to buy iphone4 instead of waiting for iphone4S.

I don’t really think rationally when desire takes over. LOL.

Gloomy Day

It’s been a long day.

Had an hour class of Engineering Drawing.

Rushed to HEMA for my 5ETP interview.

Managed to changed my interview time which initially clashed with my Statics & Biomaterial test.

Got interviewed by the TNC (Deputy Vice Chancellor?), one of the big people in UTM.

Attending this interview somehow felt different from my previous experiences.

I didn’t grab the opportunity to speak out and I felt pessimistic the whole time.

Was late for my test after that FOR THE FIRST TIME IN MY LIFE CAN YOU BELIEVE IT?

Mind went blank and gawd, the test was much tougher than I’d expected. Lecturer was kind enough to guide me step by step to answer the question. Only thing is that he didn’t write out the workings for me. LOL. So much for a test right?

And worst of all, my teeth decided to go against me after lunch. Toothache till now, it’s already 8pm FML.

At this point, I really don’t mind extracting one of the molars out if it helps to ease the ache. Yes, it is that bad. Sad to say that the molar isn’t the one causing the pain.

There’s another interview tomorrow morning ,a long day packed with classes, and finally heading back to home sweet home.

Ironic as it is, I’m not looking forward to going home this time. It’s going to be a painful, that’s one thing I’m sure about. It’s also a visit back home which I’ve been expecting myself to make ever since I left for university.

I miss the home cooked meals that I’ve been taking granted for for the past 20 years. I miss my clean bed and room. I miss people who understands me well. I miss people who speak the language that I comprehend well.

This is one of the times that I just want to cuddle up in my mom’s arms and never leave home.

Makes me think again if I’ve actually made the right decision.

Makes me wonder if I can actually survive the next 4 years.

Growing up is definitely much harder than I thought it’d be.

Morning exercise: Housekeeping

I think I’ve burned the same amount of calories if I jog on a treadmill for an hour by doing some housekeeping this morning.

Result after two hours working with the rag, mop, and the broom. (OMG I just took about a minute to figure out how to call a ‘penyapu’ in English!)

Sadly, that picture doesn’t speak a 1000 words. It is not self-explanatory and doesn’t justify how clean it is.

Swept the floor twice, mopped the floor FIVEEEE times, washed the curtains, bed sheet and blanket. It’s also 99% bacteria free now because I disinfected the floor with dettol.

I can assure you that it’s even cleaner than average 5-star hotels.

Le sigh. Saying that I’m proud of myself is such an understatement. LOL.

Seriously running out of time! Almost 40 math tutorial questions to be completed by Thursday. Introduction to Engineering presentation by Tuesday. Have not even begin with MyLine. Upcoming weekly AIESEC meetings and gatherings. Two pails of dirty clothes unwashed! Have not cleaned my room for two weeks. LOL. Have not had my bonding session with my horse. Yet to visit the dentist to fix my teeth and to the doctor to get some antihistamine. DENTIST. MY WORST NIGHTMARE. I’m probably going to die out of itch! Every hour is just too precious. Ever since I came here, I’ve learned that getting 8 hours is a luxury and no longer a necessity.

Then again, I’m not complaining

Someone actually taught me a very important lesson in life few days back. Whatever you do, always do it wholeheartedly. With that, you don’t put your time to waste and that’s how you improve yourself. If you don’t kick off your bad habits, you’re never going to be move on to be a better person in life.

Oh life.. So much more to learn.

Epitome of a FML moment

You have a toothache and you visit the clinic. Then you find out that there isn’t a dentist there. So, the doctor on duty gives you painkiller. He asks if you are allergic to any medications and you say no. You go back and happily take the medications, hoping that the pain will go away. You go to sleep and in the midnight, you wake up just to find that your legs and hands are full with rashes. Turns out that you’re actually allergic to the medications.

Well, at least now I know that I’m allergic to those painkillers.

At least now, I don’t feel like this is the biggest mistake I’ve ever done. (:

Followed mom to the morning market few days back. It’s been a while since I last visited a morning market.

There were many things that I observed since I served no purpose there but to stand aside and wait. I wished I brought a camera that day. Yes, to the market. LOL.

When we were at the fish section, you wouldn’t believe what I saw! Inside the mouth of a fish was another tiny fish! Buy big fish, free small fish. LOL. I excitedly told mom about my huge discovery but she gave me the meh face and said, “Yes big fish eats small fish.” The inevitable cycle of life. Few days back, I was just telling Ganesan how fishing is a very sinful activity. But I guess it’s unavoidable. The weaker species always get eaten. That explains why we don’t eat tigers or piranhas? LOL. (Tiger prawns don’t count!)

When I looked around, I see 90% foreign workers and only 10% locals who are the cashiers. Some of us are against having foreign workers in our country. They see them as the main cause of high crime rates. They see them as thieves, murderers, rapists etc. I wouldn’t say that I’m not one of them. If I were to take a public transport and I see foreign workers around, I would try to stay far from them. But when I saw the bunch of them in the morning market.. my perception towards them kinda change. Without them helping out, there are high chances that the morning market will not be able to operate. Our moms wouldn’t be lugging back fresh vegetables every morning. And at one point, I kinda admire them for their hardwork and their willingness to do hard labour for the meager salary. Every morning, they have to wake up before the chickens crow and start working already. Yet, they do not even complain. And I complain when I didn’t even have to do hard labour but comfortably sit in the air-conditioned room at work previously. *feels thankful LOL. They don’t mind the filthiness or the fatigue after a long day at work and they’re doing so, so that they can bring food to the table for their family in the home country. This is something I don’t think everyone can do. I am sure it’s not easy to stay away from your family and be alone in a total foreign country. If given a choice, I’m sure they wouldn’t want to do so as well. This is something I can assure you, I can never do. So why again, do we despise them working for us?

Oh wells, don’t mind the blabbering. :P

Went to visit the dentist today after procrastinating for about 8 months. (I won first prize for procrastination, haven’t you heard?)

I wasn’t afraid at first until I heard all the paraphernalia working.

OH GAWD. The sound itself made me want to walk out and drive away.

Anyways, turns out I actually have to extract my last tooth because the damage is too big to do fillings. Chickened out and decided to do fillings for the other two teeth first. I have to do fillings for five teeth in total! *gasps in horror

The dentist didn’t appear very friendly. When he stuck the suction hose into my mouth, I almost burst into tears. T___T

But I’m lucky, my friends. I’m hell lucky! I survived and walked out of the dentist’s room alive! :D

Went for Gong Cha after dinner. Wasn’t disappointing but slightly overpriced.

Because I was so excited when I got the bubble tea in hand, I didn’t bother stirring it like what everyone else did before drinking. Verdict: Drinking pure salty milk in the end. Bleurgh.

Before I can even catch up with time and do a reality check, four months have come and go.

Quitting Zuellig Pharma and taking up this job which they call me an “accounts assistant” is probably one of the best decisions I’ve done in these few futile months of my living years. (Futile because this is seriously the most unproductive period of my life LOL)

Who knew by scrolling through the Jobstreet page and randomly applied for an accounting post despite written all the requirements that I don’t meet, I would end up dealing with ledgers for four months after years of dealing with molecules and the periodic table. Who knew my boss would actually take the risk to hire someone with zero accounting knowledge and only available for four months. Who knew I would actually tried doing something I never done before (now who you calling chicken ha!)

And who knew that despite all odds, I never regretted my decision.

I could have joined the UTP May Intake and graduate earlier. Okay, I missed the deadline actually LOL but if given the opportunity to choose again, I’ll probably go through these four futile months all over again because the experience is worth that much.

Time to move on and prepare for university already. Woe is me. T_T

I found this Transformer toy in my colleague’s car when she drove us out for lunch today. It belongs to her son and she was complaining how overpriced it is.

I wasn’t paying much attention to her until I got my hands on the car.

I was silently very excited at the backseat. You could literally transform the car into Bumblebee!!! It was so cool, I swear. I’d trade all my Barbie dolls for this car if I was five years old.

She was telling us that she doesn’t understand how her son finds to fun to fix the car into the robot form, then back to the car form and repeats the whole process over and over again. I wanted to tell her that I understand how her son feels :’)

Confession: I’m actually very tempted to buy it :P

Today, my boss called me in and gave me lessons about life #3. (#1 was during the job interview, #2 was during my first week of week.. I can still remember)

I don’t exactly know how to put them into words and tell you how is it like but every time he talks to me, it’s like a wake up call to me. It puts me back on track when I have been gradually swaying away.

When I walk out of his room, I think back about things he said and I tried to recall back the many things he told me.

That was one of the wake up calls you need from someone wise from time to time to remind yourself of where you’re heading to.

I think I must been a philanthropist in my past life to have met such nice people T___T

They are so willing to share all their knowledge and they keep stuffing me with information, for fear that I might need them in future. They see me as a blank piece of paper and they try to teach me as many things as they can while I am there.

But sometimes, I feel like an ingrate. LOL. At times when my colleague tries to explain some accounting stuff to me, I tend to wander off and end up hitting him with a ruler for self-entertainment.(I never told anyone but secretly, I enjoy laughing at people’s misery. HAHAHA) But I am kiasu at the same time. If I don’t grasp what he tried to tell me, I make him repeat all over again. Yes, I know I’m going to hell already. LOL.

Well, it sure takes hell lots of patience to deal with people like me. :P

Deep down inside, I know there is one thing in life that I must learn.

Because of a mistake I did last Friday, my colleague got sounded by the boss. I felt very bad ‘cause she had a lot to do this morning. I start to wonder if I will be good in my job in future. I don’t have problems acing my exams but that doesn’t guarantee my performance at work in near future. Life is very sad sometimes, don’t you think so? First, you have to work your ass off and earn those As and your first class honour. Once you’re done (or so you THINK you’re done), you step out into the real world and they tell you all those As mean nothing. :(
I read an article in the newspaper few days back (Yes, I DO read newspaper. OCCASIONALLY :P ). It was written by Niki Cheong. I remember one specific line he wrote. “Don’t be the cause of someone’s bad day.” Very true. Period.
There are two things I need to do by next week. ONE. Buy a laptop. *grins* TWO. Apply for UTP.
UTP staffs aren’t very friendly and helpful. PFFFT. There is obviously a reason to the questions I pose and she kept answering me, “Just apply duluuuuu”. Double PFFTT.
I don’t understand why chewing gum packages look like condoms these days. It’s so wrong to see my colleague eat it everyday. LOL.
I get hungry very fast these days, just like a pregnant woman. I eat rice in the morning and I get hungry by noon. I eat noodles for lunch and I get hungry by the time I finish work. God, this is not good.
All the talented people and living legends are dying.. one by one. Michael Jackson, Alexander McQueen, and now Amy Winehouse. Shouldn’t people who eat dogs die before these people?!
Currently reading Marley and Me. Dogs. Sometimes, they just amaze me. One thing I learn from the book is how they neuter the males. They remove the testicles and all’s left with is the empty sac hanging there. Just sharing knowledge and you are welcome. I’m afraid to read till the end of the book because I know Marley will eventually die. T__T

Today is awesome. Tried my luck and called up UTP before I went to work this morning (Yes, to prove that I’m not worth dying because of tofu). Good news: There is a September intake and registration will be opened this week!!! *jumps around*
I was very happy and I smiled to myself all the way until I got in my car and when I was about to drive out for work, I look to my left and saw the foreign worker who was working on my neighbour’s renovation staring at me. Let’s just say he’s just jealous because I am happy. LOL.
I laughed hysterically because I saw a name wrongly spelled today. Why am I like that? LOL. Sometimes, I feel like I belong to the asylum.
Today, I got complained that I’m being too free at work. How is it my fault when I really have nothing to do! Really, I wish I am busy as well. But it’s okay. I took no offense because I’m leaving soon and I am happy. I forgive her for being jealous. :)

Reality has sunk in.

I’m aware that I will be in a totally new, strange environment in less than two months time.

That is when I will have to start doing my own laundry, no one to take care of my daily meals, no more healthy home cooked food, no one to remind me to bathe *coughs*, no more going back to home sweet home everyday. *teary eyes

Registration is the WORST. So many things on the checklist. I’m feeling a little FML already. I might just cry on the first day.

Then roommate. OMG, what if I end up with a really weird one. The one who lets down her hair at 12am in the midnight *gasps in horror*, or one who farts a lot FML. The worst type is the loner type, the one who doesn’t talk much and pretends like you’re not there.

How am I going to pack? I think I will need to rent a kontena to ship my stuffs to the hostel.

I have another fear. I don’t know if my brain is still working or not. I mean, I’ve taken a good rest for about six months now. I haven’t been doing anything which requires much thinking. I’m afraid that I might just fail all the way through my Semester 1 seeing the fact that I’ve forgotten almost everything I’ve learned in school for the past 19 years. Yes, including simple mathematics. At the rate I’m lazing and rotting, my IQ will plunge lower than a Down Syndrome kid in no time. Or it has already gone to that level?

I have yet to make the most important decision.

I should just choke on tofu and die if I don’t call UTP tomorrow. Procrastination. I just can’t help it.

Adaptation. When I first started my current vacation job, my boss told me, “If you can adapt well to all sorts of environment, you will do well no matter where you go.” I will adapt. I can do it but it’s going to take some time.

Comfort. For the six past months, I have practically no worries or anything to stress about. The most stressful one would be deciding what to have for dinner. That’s it. Now, I’m going to be thrown back into the old studying life, burning midnight oil all over again. I don’t remember how to deal with all these already.

One new chapter is about to unfold and I’m about to end the current one.

BUT I will miss you. I will.. :)

I was going through the syllabus and got very excited when I saw Calculus, Thermodynamics, ORGANIC CHEMISTRY!, and Differential Equations.

And I was like mehh when I saw Asian and Islamic Civilization and Islamic Institutions. (-.-)

AHHH.. DECISION DECISION.

UTM and UTP. Differs by one letter but in terms of cost, it’s around RM65k.

Still, lies behind that genuine smile is a strong feeling of fear. :/

ONE. UPU results finally came out after dinosaur years..And I didn’t know about it until Sha texted me on Friday morning. Well… Better late than never right? LOL. I got a reply after two excruciating hours of waiting and they gave me the code of the course offered instead of the name. TK29. Thank you. I’m supposed to have the entire list of courses and its respective codes memorized right? Took them long enough to reply me. Anyhow, I got the course I wanted. I’m not complaining, so don’t call me an ingrate. :P Miss Vany said “right course at the right university”. Yes, can’t agree more on that.

BUT BUT BUT..It says WAJIB mengesahkan SETUJU TERIMA TAWARAN.

Like it or not, I’ll still have to accept. No?

The last time I checked, this is still a free country. :(

TWO. It feels good to have a back up plan after feeling “insecure” for weeks. It feels good to have something in hand while waiting for the one I really want.

THREE. Yumcha session on Friday was a good one. I had a great laugh and a good catch up with fellow STPM-ians. I can’t get over the “aqua yoga” joke. PRICELESS. HAHA.

FOUR. The prompt-est decision I have ever made.

My Two Cents

I used to enjoy celebrating our Independence Day and had some love for our country. (Operative word is HAD) That was back when I was young, stupid and oblivious to all our political business. When I began to be aware of what is actually going around me, my perception changed and had a total paradigm shift. Since then, I can’t even tell you five things I love about Malaysia.

Bersih 2.0. For ONCE, I’m actually proud of my very own country. FOR ONCE. I am proud of the Malaysians who went and support the rally while I *coughs* give my share of mental support from home. :P

For once, I was actually bothered about what was going on. I spent my entire Saturday watching Bersih videos, followed Bersih2.0 on Twitter, and kept up with their live update on their website and NSTonline.

Then the next day, I read the newspaper and I was like mehh.. (-.-)

There are many things in life that I have yet to understand.

Those barnacles stuck on a shoe sole that I held in the picture above. Seriously, why is their life so sad? I only found them on rubbish. It’s already so sad that they’re living on RUBBISH. Now I suspect they even eat rubbish for survival. Man, sad life. *shakes head*
Next, it’s this Yusof Taiyoob’s radio commercial. It’s some kind of dates in case the radio commercial didn’t get your attention. It TOTALLY got mine. You know why? Every time they say their brand name which is YUSOF TAIYOOB, I keep hearing it as “You so fertile”. What makes it worse is that they have to whisper it in a not quite appropriate way. And I hear it almost everyday. LOL.
Transformers: Dark of The Moon. Seriously, how do they make such awesome movies? I mean.. the first five seconds of the movie itself was already WOAAAHHH *drop jaws* To say that I’m amazed by that advent of technology is beyond an understatement. It was worth every single cent I swore! It’s good that I think I NEED to go for it again. After the movie, I silently asked myself what if.. What if Autobots and Decepticons really exist? What if they’re living among us right now?! What if the US military KNEW. They were hiding it from us all the time and they needed to fund their research on this. So they came up with a cartoon and all of sorts of stuff about Transformers to get some income and also to convince us that it’s purely entertainment only. *gasps* Tell me that I’m not being delusional and this is true.
Why do people write cryptic stuffs that they don’t want anyone to know? Why even write it in public in the first place when you know you’re not going to share it with the world.
Why I’m not recovering yet. Third week of runny nose already.
Noah’s Ark. My colleague told me about the story today. If it’s true, does that mean we are all Noah’s grandchildren ‘cause God “cleansed” the Earth and only Noah’s family and animals survived? Sorry but I’m a skeptic.
The chicken and egg theory AGAIN. In that case, the chicken came first because apparently Noah saved a pair of chickens in his ark. BUT BUT BUT.. That is only valid if Noah and family didn’t kill those chickens! I mean, they were stuck in the ark for 40 days. Imagine yourself in their shoes. You see a pair of chickens happily clucking infront of you while you’re stuck in an ark with no good food for 40 days. What do you do? You start to see KENTUCKY FRIED CHICKEN clucking around you right? LOL.
Then, there’s another thing but that’s for me to know, for you to find out. ;) (Point No.4 proven. LOL)

My endorphin level has drastically surged recently.

I’ve been very happy. In fact, I don’t know if I’ve been TOO happy because my jaw hurts all the time for a stupid reason. I’ve been smiling non-stop. I see you imagining an idiot in your mind over there already. HAHA.

I can’t help it. I smile at EVERY.SINGLE.THING. And I’m serious, I can’t help it! Those facial muscles magically work on their own. They’re like my involuntary muscles already.

I smile even when I listen to sad stories. Why am I like that? LOL!

You have no idea… I even smiled and said hi to a mongrel who happened to walk pass my house this morning. A STRAY DOG. *stares at self in disbelief* (Now that I’ve typed it out, I kinda see where am I heading to already. THE ASYLUM) He, then turned around and ran for his dear life. (true story)

I laugh at everything and when I say everything, I mean EVERYTHING. I laugh at things which are not even remotely close to what you call a joke and I can’t fathom how I do it.

You have no idea how easily things please me. Even a smile from one stranger can get me going giddy-up giddy-up all day long.

I can’t explain all this. I honestly do not have any particular reasons to be THIS happy. I really don’t. Or maybe I do? :P *cryptic*

I feel like a 17-year old all over again.

If you’ve known me for a long time, you should know that is how Rebecca Goh used to be. Sugar rush, every single day.

I can still remember. I once spent two entire Biology periods laughing with Mei Lin and turns out that we were actually laughing at NOTHING. Literally NOTHING.

Sometimes, Fui Yen’s face will appear funny to me and I’ll end up laughing hysterically till school ends. (She used to sit right next to me)

I miss who I used to be and I’m glad that I’m slowly recovering to who I used to be and who I really am (or so I think).

At this point of time, I feel so contented. If I were to die today, I guess I will die with no regrets because I’ve had my share of happiness to last me until my journey to hell wth LOL.

Suddenly, I feel very blessed. :)

I lost 3kg from falling sick for almost two weeks. I weighed myself 3 times today to confirm that I’m not near sighted. If I fall sick for two months, does that means I’ll lose 12kgs?!

I’ve been dreaming about vacations. I miss the beach. I miss the duty free shops. (duty free shops >>> beach).I miss flying in the air (literally). I miss how peaceful, tranquil and serene it was up in the air, alone.

I should start doing more productive things than forcing my Sims characters to “try for baby”. LOL.

I’ve been reading Dancing Paper Cranes. I can’t fathom how someone younger than me can be 1000 times mentally stronger than me. I can’t even receive my STPM result without shedding gallons of tears, what more fighting cancer and struggling to survive. Sometimes, I question the existence of God. Why is it always the other way round? There are people who are struggling to live but there are others who just don’t treasure what they have. Good people should be given a chance and psychotic pedophiles who go around raping kids should die. No? Why is life unfair like that?

We never learn to treasure what we have until we lose them.

True Love

We often stereotype crows as disgusting and ugly creatures that serve no purpose on Earth and bring no benefits to the humankind just like cockroaches. (I seriously think cockroaches should extinct just like the dinosaurs)

But do you believe me if I say true love exists between crows?

During lunch time yesterday, I saw a crow who has probably broke its wing by the roadside. It couldn’t even stand on its feet and kept yelling in pain. Then, I saw another crow who seems perfectly fine, laid next to it. When I walked back five minutes later, the perfectly fine crow was still there next to the crow with the broken wing.

They might be ugly (Okay, they ARE ugly), they eat rubbish to survive, and they are disgusting but to the very least, they know how to care and to never leave their partners in times of need.

Epiphany: Why is the sea blue?

After 20 years, that epiphany has finally hit me.

Why is the sea blue?

Asked Uncle Google and he gave me plausible explanations.

When sunlight strikes the water, the longer wavelength light nearer to red color are absorbed and the shorter wavelength light is reflected back. The blue light also travels further deeper into the sea and gets reflected. But blue light also cannot travel beyond 200meters. As no light can pass deep into the sea, deeper waters appear black. The color of waters at the top of the sea is light blue and as we go still deeper the blue color becomes still darker due to many reflections and at the end becomes black.
Another reason why the sea appears blue is because the water droplets of the sea act as a mirror and reflects the color of the sky. If the sky is cloudless or if it is a clear sunny day, then water reflects blue color of the sky. This makes the sea water blue. Some sea water also appears green if there are some algae and plant life. The green pigment in them will reflect green light and hence imparts green color to water. On cloudy days, the sea might appear gray in color.

Reading that kinda decrease my skepticism level by a little.

I don’t believe in anything that can’t be explained in a scientific manner.

Take for instance, when I was in Langkawi, I visited the overrated Mahsuri’s tomb. I was very doubtful and skeptical about this whole legend.

Her blood can’t be WHITE. My theory: Maybe it was breast milk since she was killed not long after she gave birth. (Technically, it wasn’t my theory. Someone told me this before.)
Nothing could kill her but her family’s sword. *skeptic level shoots up* How is this possible? I mean unless you are God of some sort, that is nowhere near possible.
Why do people pay respect to her when she was the one who cursed Langkawi for seven generations? Undeniably, she is innocent but the fact is that she did curse Langkawi.
I am also skeptical about the curse and the catastrophes that happened by the way. LOL.
I’m also doubtful if her body is really in what they claim as the Mahsuri’s tomb because apparently they have changed the tombstone for THREE times and currently preserving the original one in a glass box. (-.-) For all you know, people have been paying respect to a piece of empty land and a fake tombstone. HAHA.

Sometimes, I feel like I’m suffering from Asperger’s syndrome. I need to be informed about things beforehand and I do not like last minute changes. It really irks me.. At least for these past few weeks.
Nowadays, I’m very prone of becoming a GODzilla and no, I’m not PMS-ing if you’re guessing.
I can’t wait for Thursday. Off from work for FOUR DAYS *echoes* Pure bliss! (Okay, I think I’ve repeated this for a gazillion times already but I’m excited like that)
I still wonder if anyone else looks forward to 5.30pm as much as I do? I start my countdown after lunch everyday. LOL. When I step out of the work territory, my endorphin level increases tremendously. No joke.
I don’t feel smart anymore. I feel like someone who flunked her high school. I can’t even do filing right anymore!! *panics*
My colleague asked me last week if water and oil has the same weight and I confidently said yes. How could I say yes when I was relating it to density the whole time?! I asked Yee Xiong and he laughed at me and said I was funny. Confirm can announce dead brain already. LOL. I’m afraid when I start my degree, my lecturers will think that I cheat my way through SPM and STPM for those As.
I desperately need a new purse. My TEMPORARY purse has a huge sheep (Nici) on it but thank god, the operative word here is TEMPORARY.

Blonde Moment #1001

I’ve been visiting this new gym lately and they have a funny system where they provide you the locker without locks. Technically, it’s not even a LOCKER right. LOL. Anyhow, we’re supposed to bring our own padlocks to avoid getting our belongings stolen. And so as usual after the gym session, I’ll unlock my ‘locker’, get my toiletries and shower. When I came back, I unlocked my ‘locker’ to find that the LOCKER WAS EMPTY! *gasps in horror* Even my shoes wasn’t there (-.-) I stood there numb shocked for a moment. I was contemplating if I should run down to the reception and call for a rescue. Good thing I didn’t because if I did, all the gym staffs would have had a great laugh and put my picture everywhere to remind everyone to not repeat the tragedy. I, then opened this unlocked locker next to mine just to find all my stuffs there (-____-) It turns out that I locked an empty locker and left the one with my things in it unlocked. LOL.

The Exponential Growth

Today, I saw the vast difference in the point of view albeit a few years age gap only.

It was like taking a glimpse into the future. The exact same issue, I would be seeing things THAT way instead of how I’m seeing it right now. A perception that I can actually accept.

We’re in the position that gives a big gradient on the exponential graph.

Epiphany: If you mingle around with people who’re older than you, does it increase your mental age? If you mingle with old men, will you think like one of them as well? LOL.

But my ultimate question still remains unanswered.

How do people do the SAME THING over and over again EVERY SINGLE DAY?

I’m amazed, really.

Then it dawn to me that it was a blessing in disguise that I didn’t get the scholarship back in Form 5 because if I did, I’ll be doing Actuarial Science right now and few years down the road, I’ll be doing the same work routine EVERY SINGLE DAY FOR THE REST OF MY ENTIRE LIFE *echoes* Ooh, this is even more frightening than a horror movie. The name of the colour itself sounds pretty intimidating right. I mean, if someone comes up to me and tells me she wants to dye her hair SWEET PINK. I’d imagine this.

The boldness literally screams into your face and tells you it’s sweet pink. LOL.

The outcome was pretty disappointing, ~~as expected~~. The colour wasn’t very prominent.

But I quite like it :D

Did you know that there’s such an instrument called the viscometer, which functions to measure the viscosity of fluids.

I know I know. No one cares. LOL. But I thought of sharing some GENERAL KNOWLEDGE (learn up kids! It’s for your own good)

It all happened when I issued a cheque for a viscometer at work and it just strike my curiosity. x)

You’ll actually be surprised that all the local universities are higher ranked than ANY private universities around.

The conventional idea of private universities are anytime better off than local universities is proven wrong is subject to debate.

What’s more surprising that USM has become the top university in Malaysia, no.. not even UM. No wonder they get the priority of choosing their students first and have a specific personality test for entrance.

Shocking enough, Cambridge or Princeton didn’t even make it to the top 10. Instead, National Taiwan University stands at the 12th position. Amazing, no?

Jaundice can be caused by liver disease and these days, there’s something called the liver dialysis where your liver is cleansed with an external machine, just like haemodialysis.

Went to Taylor’s Lakeside Campus for an interview today and oh my god, it’s like a freaking mall. Now we know why their fees are more expensive compared to other colleges.
The guard was so nice. When he saw me, he told me to wait. Then, he went and remove the road barriers and asked me to park there. :D
I’m still wondering if NST and The Sun is under the same management. I was called up by NST but when I went today, they told me that there isn’t any NST interviews going on today. There’s The Sun only. O.o
CONVENIENTLY dropped by Sunway Pyramid since I was nearby. *excuse* :P Managed to buy another skirt from Cotton On! BLISS :D :D :D and tried Chatime. Met Dog and her sister there, such coincidence.
Fetched Buaya and went to school to collect our trophies and certificates. We were infront of the office. Saw Miss Vany walk past us without stopping to say hi. I asked Buaya if she recognizes us. When she walked back, I said hi and then she realized it was us. Did we change that much, physically? LOL. Then, she asked who were we waiting for and we said Miss Yap. She said that Miss Yap just walked past us and told us to look for her at the staff room. The one in blue. We went to the staff room, smiled at this lady in blue and let her walk past us again, without knowing that was her until Miss Vany saw us walking past her and shouted, “Eh that’s Miss Yap!” Truly LOL moment.
Managed to collect my trophies but not my certificates. Don’t even get me into explaining why I still have to go collect my trophies despite having my sister to represent me on Speech Day already. She said she will post the certificates to me and hopefully the postman won’t fold it. (-__-) Don’t even get me started on why she asked me how come they got my name wrong in the certificate and programme book but they got the trophies right.
Went to the library and for the first time in my entire life, I wasn’t allowed in because they said that my skirt is too short and inappropriate. I know you are staring in disbelief. Trust me, I stood there dumbfounded as well. LOL.

A year has come and go, AGAIN.

Sometimes, I really don’t realize that I am turning TWENTY. I always thought that I was going to turn 19 this year, no joke.

Today, I don’t even have to debate with myself when I fill up application forms. Two days back, I’ll still be unsure if I were to fill up the age column. 19 or 20, I’m turning 20 but TECHNICALLY, I’m still 19.

Woosh, no more of that dilemma. LOL.

When I was 14, I always wonder how it feels like hitting the big TWO-Os. I finally know and I can confidently say, 14 is better anytime.

I wanted to blog about 19 things that I did when I was 19 but the truth is, I can’t even find 10 amazing things that I remember doing.

Because I spent my entire year working for this slip.

Being 19 and dealing with STPM definitely wasn’t easy.

A lot of turbulences, a scary roller coaster ride, but the ride taught me many things and made me grow much more than I expected. :)

So much to handle that I didn’t even bother to celebrate my 19th birthday. Well, dearest classmates did surprise me.

Time passes so fast, I don’t even know if my mental age is catching up with it. :P

Had a great start being a TWO-O.

Cinapek!

Today must be the most epic day of work so far.

This afternoon, my colleague told me to call certain companies.

I called every company with no much complications until this particular cinapek company.

The first time someone picked up, I spoke in English and told her about my intention for calling. She kept quiet for a while and then requested me to speak in BM. Fine, I thought she was a malay lady. When I finished translating, she passed me to another colleague which again, I explained my intention. Her colleague still didn’t get me. She passed me to another person. That was when it finally dawn upon me that THEY ARE CHINESE AND THEY SPEAK CHINESE. Nais. Fine, I conversed in Cantonese instead. When I was done expressing my intention, there was a long pause and in the background, I heard the lady said “I don’t understand what is she talking about” in Cantonese. (-____-) Saying that I was speechless at that point of time is a total understatement. LOL.

When my colleague took over the call and conversed in Cantonese as well (which I previously did!), he managed to get the message across easily and threw me a huge grin after he ended the call.

I practically spoke almost all the languages that I’m able and probably spoke to most of the cinapek company staffs and nobody understood what I was trying to say. LOL.

Lessons from geese

Lesson 1 - The Importance of Achieving Goals

As each goose flaps its wings it creates an UPLIFT for the birds that follow. By flying in a 'V' formation the whole flock adds 71 percent extra to the flying range.

When we have a sense of community and focus, we create trust and can help each other to achieve our goals.

Lesson 2 - The Importance of Team Work
When a goose falls out of formation it suddenly feels the drag and resistance of flying alone. It quickly moves back to take advantage of the lifting power of the birds in front.

Outcome

If we had as much sense as geese we would stay in formation with those headed where we want to go. We are willing to accept their help and give our help to others.
Lesson 3 - The Importance of Sharing

When a goose tires of flying up front it drops back into formation and another goose flies to the point position.
Outcome
It pays to take turns doing the hard tasks. We should respect and protect each other's unique arrangement of skills, capabilities, talents and resources.

Lesson 4 - The Importance of Empathy and Understanding
When a goose gets sick, two geese drop out of formation and follow it down to the ground to help and protect it.

Outcome
If we have as much sense as geese we will stand by each other in difficult times, as well as when we are strong.

Lesson 5 - The Importance of Encouragement

Geese flying in formation 'HONK' to encourage those up front to keep up with their speed.

We need to make sure our honking is encouraging. In groups and teams where there is encouragement, production is much greater. 'Individual empowerment results from quality honking'

Fast Motion

Time passes by so fast these days that I can hardly coax myself into believing that it’s Saturday already.

I had to double check my calendar on the desktop and phone to make sure that it was Wednesday the past week because I clearly don’t remember anything about Tuesday.

One good and another bad one.

Starting off with the bad one, I didn’t make it into NTU T___T But will be appealing for entrance anyhow.

Good news is that I’ve been shortlisted for a scholarship that I don’t even remember applying for. LOL.

Technically, it’s two good news. UTP has September intake! :D

Work has been pretty much the same.

People at my workplace address each other with a monosyllable name, usually by their surnames. I’m glad they haven’t started calling me Goh, Reb, or any monosyllable names that they can come up with.

And they tend to ask a lot about my family that I sometimes think they already know my family better than me. (-.-)

Starting reading the Twilight Saga. Twilight is good but deteriorated when it came to New Moon. The sudden 180-degree turns in the story aren’t very impressive.

A random epiphany

When I was reading Have a Little Faith by Mitch Albom few days back, I had a random epiphany.

With the advent of technology and the wonders of plastic surgeries these days, anything is possible. You name who you want to look like, shove the cash to the plastic surgeon and mentally prepare for your miracle transformation.

I can’t do Excel sheets for nuts, really. It is undeniable that Excel can do wonders. Key in specified formula and you get everything you need keyed in. But when you don’t know how (like yours truly), it’s such a pain that when you try to delete some figures, the whole formula gets affected. (-____-)
I can’t do Accounts for nuts neither. When the figures don’t tally, you literally feel like pulling out every single strand of hair off your head.
If I ever run a company in future, I’ll make sure NO PAPERWORK IS INVOLVED! It is such a waste of time and effort to actually file every transaction/invoice/cash sales into respective ring files. FILING. I totally despise that job. Whoever who does filing for a living, I’m sorry to say, FYL! I’ll make sure everything is computerized that my subordinates don’t have to flip through files after files to look for a certain document. Oh, I’ll be doing mother nature a good favour as well.
It takes a lot of patience to teach. Despite doing many blunder mistakes today (I don’t know why. My mind flew elsewhere) and the deadline is pretty close, he never gave a single remark but smiled and said “it’s okay.. it’s okay”. If I was in his position, I probably kill me already. LOL. Maybe not, just the Godzilla stare.

Life’s been on the fast lane these days.

Every waking hour has been very productive.

Eight hours at work. Three hours at gym, including journey to and fro. An hour or two of reading. Eight hours of sleep. Remaining hours go to necessary daily routines.

Amazingly productive for a pig, yes why did I even point out the obvious. LOL.

Been coping well with my new job. In fact, I prefer this over my previous job. I’ve been learning Accounts! :D The basic knowledge and the online system.

To do it for the rest of my life? I think I’ll give it a pass. No thanks.

Also been reading a lot of Nicholas Sparks lately. To be specific, I’ve been reading mainly his writings since erm.. January?

I can confidently come out with a few verdicts. It’s like a checklist when he writes a book.

Falling in love with someone totally unexpected and loving her/him to the end of time.
Making love within two weeks of knowing each other. LOL.
THE MOST SADISTIC PART! Someone dies in EVERY SINGLE BOOK! And I think I’ve cried for at least half the books I’ve read already. T___T

I wonder if Nicholas Sparks is silently a sadist. Take for example, in The Guardian, Singer didn’t have to die. He could have made Singer save Julie from Richard and then get pronounced as the superhero of the aeon. But nooo..he decided that Singer must die in the end. Whyy? Why so cruel? T____T

Neighbour just gave mom some asam laksa! BLISS :D Been craving for it for days!!! Doesn’t taste that good but whatever, it kills the cravings. Now, I’m off to gym to burn off that bowl of asam laksa. LOL.

It was a very steep hill, almost 90 degree vertical *exaggerating*

Every step we took probably cost us like 10kcalories? No joke. T___T

So steep that I wouldn’t even burn that much calories on a RPM bike for an hour.

But all six self-declared champions made it up there. *grins*

And here you have it, the biggest champion ever. HAHAHA.

One by one, we rode down the steep hill by sole gravitational pull.

All of us made it safe and sound but the said biggest champion.

I believe she got inspired by cartoons and went tumbling down there. *cue for Jack and Jill nursery rhyme*

When we heard someone screaming HELP!, Buaya knew something went wrong. Quickly cycled back and found her with blood everywhere and a damaged bike.

Called 999 and Taman Bukit Cahaya.

We totally deserve taking pride for handling emergency this well :P

Taman Bukit Cahaya ranger brought us out of the place and right when we were about to get to my car, the ambulance arrived.

First time riding the ambulance, shooting past red light and having everyone give you way was awesome. x)

Arrived at the hospital and took almost six hours to get cleaned, X-ray screening, and stitching. (-.-) But why am I not surprised, government hospital.

I wasn’t allowed to watch the stitching which I wanted to badly. :(

But it all ended well. We brought Carmen back home safe and sound. :D

It was definitely a great experience. I learned that government hospital is much slower than I’ve expected. I wonder if it’s a more severe case, how long would we have to wait? I learned that you only pay one buck for the entire process, maybe that explains the long wait. When I came home, mom came up with all sorts of reasons for me to not go for cycling anymore. In other words, I’m banned from cycling which I have been since young. No matter how much I pleaded and how well I did in exams, my parents never agreed to buy me a bicycle. Instead, they bought me a set of masak-masak. (-.-)

Spent the family a dinner at Causeway Bay Spicy Crab.

The entire dinner was around 300 bucks.Am I filial or what? :D :D :D (Okay la. I didn’t pay that much. I bought the Everyday coupon)

Duck’s tongue. BLEURGH. I didn’t like it but the sister loves it. Exotic food is so not my thing. I wonder how many ducks they killed for this plate alone.

This is one exceptional tofu which I don’t mind eating. I don’t eat tofu but their homemade tofu was so soft on the inside and crispy on the outside. Thumbs up :D

Food was quite pricey but for what we paid, it’s worth it.

The crabs were really yummy!

One of the waiters was very rude though. >(

He impolitely told us to put in our orders faster while we were still browsing through the menu. Then, when we asked for an extra menu, he said they didn’t have enough menus when in fact, there were only a few occupied tables in house. (-.-) When we paid for the bill, we were charged for medium when we ordered small fried tofu. When we asked, he did not apologize for the mistake and instead, he insisted that it was medium. How would he know? He was not the one who served us and he didn’t even check with the other waiter. Pffft.

People who always put blame on others. Eg: Why you failed your exam? The teacher wasn’t good. Group members pulled down my grade for group assignments. Truth: You’re just stupid, admit it.
People who never admit their mistakes or weaknesses. Eg: You failed your exam but you tell others that it’s tough beyond belief and everyone else failed as well. So it’s okay. Truth: The paper was actually very easy but the thing is, you failed it. Again, you’re stupid so just admit it.
People who looks down on others and think they’re better than everyone else. Truth: You’re envious of others and in life, you’re a sore loser.
People who bullshit hell lot. Eg: The course is damn tough. Don’t take it. Seriously damn tough. (to the extent they make you sound like you’re stupid and as if they scored 200 for an IQ test). Truth: You’re stupid and you can’t cope with the course. That is why you find the course tough.

Let me tell you the truth.

If I wanted to do Actuarial Science, I’ll be doing at least ten times better than you.

And I don’t need you to tell me not to take it because it’s seriously tough. Thanks for your concern but you should know that I am NOT you. I can do much better than you, anytime. SPM? Pre-U? MUET? Oh to bring you back to reality, I beat you FLAT in all those. :)

If you took Math in STPM, you would have failed miserably. You wouldn’t tell me that Foundation in Science is MUCH tougher than STPM. HAHA. Joke of the year.

I scored a CGPA of 3.67 in STPM. How you did for Pre-U again? YOU FAILED. HAHAHA LOSER LOSER LOSER!

I know I’m paid to work but it’s not fair to make both of us move all THOSE boxes! Yes, Sarmila and I painstakingly moved all those boxes from various sources and stacked them up neatly against the wall. (first picture)

I thought I was done with it yesterday but NO! Today, I was told that I had to move another 23908495 boxes to the store room and move another 39385905 boxes from the store room to the office. She’s forgotten the fact that we’re the XX species and WE’RE HUMANS.

Sarmila and I call her Gila from now on since her name rhymes with it anyways. LOL.

I just love how shocked she look when I told her I wanted to resign. x)

‘Unintentional’ revenge for making me do all these donkey work with no sense of gratefulness.

Starting from the following week, you can move the boxes all you want BY YOURSELF. *evil smirk*

Sometimes, I don’t know if I’m unfriendly or people are just TOO friendly. I barely met her for three weeks and I already know how many daughters her aunt has. (-.-) The previous girl was even worse. It took me less than a week to know her entire family’s history. LOL.

This is something I wish I can proudly write and tell the world some day..

A Malaysian speaks up....

I am a female Chinese Malaysian, living in the Washington DC area in the United States . I have read many of the letters that often talk about foreign countries when the writers have no real knowledge of actually living in those countries.

Many draw conclusions about what those countries are like after hearing from someone else or by reading and hearing about them in the media or after four years in a college town in those countries.

I finished STPM with outstanding results from the prestigious St George's Girls School in Penang . Did I get a university place from the Malaysian government? Nothing.. With near perfect scores, I had nothing, while my Malay friends were getting offers to go overseas.

Even those with 2As got into university. I was so depressed. I was my parent's last hope for getting the family out of poverty and at 18, I thought I had failed my parents.

Today, I understand it was the Malaysian Government that had failed me and my family because of its discriminatory policies.

Fortunately, I did not give up and immediately did research at the Malaysian American Commission on Education Exchange (MACEE) to find a university in the US that would accept me and provide all the finances. My family and friends thought I was crazy, being the youngest of nine children of a very poor carpenter. Anything that required a fee was out of our reach.

Based on merit and my extracurricular activities of community service in secondary school, I received full tuition scholarship, work study, and grants to cover the four years at a highly competitive US university.

Often, I took 21 credits each semester, 15 credits each term while working 20 hours each week and maintaining a 3.5 CGPA. A couple of semesters, I also received division scholarships and worked as a TA (teaching assistant) on top of everything else.

For the work study, I worked as a custodian (yes, cleaning toilets), carpet layer, computer lab assistant, grounds keeping, librarian, painter, tour guide, etc. If you understand the US credit system, you will understand this is a heavy load.

Why did I do it? This is because I learnt as a young child from my parents that hard work is an opportunity, to give my best in everything, and to take pride in the work I do. I walked away with a double major and a minor with honours but most of all a great lesson in humility and a great respect for those who are forced to labour in so-called `blue collar' positions.

Those of you who think you know all about Australia , US, or the West, think again. Unless you have really lived in these countries, i.e. paid a mortgage, paid taxes, taken part in elections, you do not understand the level of commitment and hard work it takes to be successful in these countries, not just for immigrants but for people who have lived here for generations.

These people are where they are today because of hard work. (Of course, I am not saying everyone in the US is hardworking... There is always the lazy lot that

lives off of someone else's hard work. Fortunately, they are the

minority..)

Every single person, anywhere, should have the opportunity to succeed if they want to put in the effort and be accountable for their own actions. In the end, they should be able to reap what they sow.

It is bearable that opportunities are limited depending on how well-off financially one's family is but when higher education opportunities are race-based, like it is in Malaysia, it is downright cruel for those who see education as the only way out of poverty.

If you want to say discrimination is here in the US , yes, of course it is. Can you name a country where it doesn't happen? But let me tell you one thing - if you go looking for it, you will find it.

But in Malaysia , you don't have to go look for it because it seeks you out, slaps you in your face every which way you turn, and is sanctioned by law!

Here in the US , my children have the same opportunity to go to school and learn just like their black, white, and immigrant friends. At school, they eat the same food, play the same games, are taught the same classes and when they are 18, they will still have the same opportunities. W

ould I want to bring my children back to Malaysia ?

So they can suffer the state-sanctioned discrimination as the non-malays have had for over 50 years?

The injustice the non-Malay have to suffer in frightening silence is the most damaging problem one has to face throughout one's life. You just have to look at the mighty govt structures which completely favours only one race, the Umno Malay.

The Chinese and Indians are treated no better than the illegal Indonesians.

Racism and corruption are openly practised by the Malay politicians everywhere, Courts, schools/Uni, police, govt offices, contracts, GLC, NEP, ISA, local govt.

It's so powerful and intimidating that you walk with fear and keep your mouth shut on anything and everything political.

Religion is taboo unless you talk good about Islam.

As for being a slave in the foreign country, I am a happy 'slave' earning a good income as an IT project manager.

I work five days a week; can talk bad about the president when I want to; argue about politics, race and religion openly; gather with more than 50 friends and family when I want (no permit needed) and I don't worry about the police pulling me over because they say I ran the light when I didn't.

Have we seen the light at the end of the tunnel yet (Anwar Ibrahim)?

Or is it the head light of an oncoming Umno train ?

Lets hope its the former for the sake of all fair-minded Malaysians.

The dream of a Malaysian 'race' in the future is nowhere in sight with the present BN govt.

Hard Labour

First you told me to move ALL the files from our office and the mobile racks to the store room all the way at the end, fine.

You told me to arrange ALL the files according to their dates, fine.

Then the following week, you told me to move all of them back to the office because we are only supposed to keep the 2010 ones, FINE.

Then, you told me to move ALL the files from the cabinet and move to the eerie store room AGAIN and lock pick a locked cabinet, fine.

Today, you told me to clear the remaining files in the mobile rack and put them against the wall, fine.

Then, you said move the recent ones to the mobile rack and I arranged them in order, FINE.

Right after I painstakingly finished arranging, you told me to take them all out and put them against the wall. Then, you told me that the ones against the wall that I put just now was supposed to be in the store room. You didn’t tell me that!

THIS IS IT.

Until I find another job, which I reckon is pretty soon. ;D

Exploring the road not taken

Decided to explore another route today.

So happen that we met this really nice uncle who told not to worry and follow him. He tried to wait for us in the beginning but left after that. I guess we were just too slow. LOL.

Went for breakfast at Raju’s later on and rotis price have really surged. O.O

Fui Yen ate roti telur bawang which costed her like 3 bucks. That’s really WOW.

Tried to make potato salad just now and failed miserably.

It tasted like my usual egg sandwich, which makes sense because I use the exact same recipe. LOL.

Gave some to dad and he refused to eat it (-.-)

Four Nicholas Sparks books to keep me occupied for the next whole week. :D :D

Mother nature isn’t exactly very happy

When I saw this on CNN yesterday, I was shocked and terrified.

I even had goosebumps, no joke.

In the matter of seconds, sky scrappers and homes that took years to be built were destroyed.

It scares me, really.

When I watched 2012 back then, I was very confident that it wouldn’t happen so fast.

Now, I’m evidently convinced that I might not live up to my 30s :(

Was talking to Mei Lin last night and come to think of it, I think the new staff suffers from dyslexia. O.O

Then again, it’s not fair to Karen who’s been very nice to me. She’s bringing me marble cake tomorrow! :D

And I’m considering to sign myself up to be a volunteer at the SPCA.
